Matija Sarkic

 Birmingham City Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former player Matija Sarkic.

During the 2021/22 season, the Montenegrin goalkeeper represented Blues on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Throughout his tenure, he made 23 appearances for the club. Despite his last game being on New Year’s Day, his exceptional performances and admirable character led to him being awarded the Men’s Supporters' Player of the Season.

Matija's professional journey began at Aston Villa and has seen him earn nine full international caps. He has accumulated a total of 175 club appearances, showcasing his talent at various clubs including Livingston, Shrewsbury Town, Stoke City, and most recently, Millwall.
